 I like to abbreviate.

This particular gem stands for ‘Poor Baby Which Couldn’t Live Either Way’.

It could just as easily be YUSCNMWYD. (You’re Up Shit Creek No Matter What You Do).

PBWCLEW was my first pregnancy (conceived December ‘06 with some surprise as we’d just found out about the ICSI-range male factor). We were thrilled beyond belief to have got so lucky. Things looked good throughout the first trimester. Maybe we were going to be one of those couples who quickly got their Happy Ending after all….

This is clearly not a Mommy Blog to a single baby born in 2007, but to twins born in 2008, so what went wrong?

Unfortunately PBWCLEW had a severe NTD known as ‘Anencephaly’ which is unquestionably uniformly lethal at birth. We chose not to continue with the pregnancy.

It sucked. A LOT.

It still sucks.
