I guess it was my own silly fault for wandering out like a woman without a working brain to a teeming shopping centre of all hell-on-earth places pre Christmas avec three children, two exceedingly whiny and the third precariously balanced as she is (until things Work or I Cave or the Earth Explodes) between permanent breast attachment and a general policy of keeping but one scream away from demanding I lob a proverbial girl out in the checkout queue.
I guess it was.
But that doesn’t mean that at not yet two weeks post partum with aforementioned direct areolar hit lying in the pram it is okay to wish me well with my fecking pregnancy. I’ve already done that bit.
I don’t have any plans to do it again.
Wordless pointing to the newborn sucker of all things mammary elicited merely an ‘Oh, well your tummy’s not flat yet’.
No shit, Sherlock.
….and I thought I looked good today.

PS. I really shall get back to the fun and games of the whole week that was but, um, BN nurses for about eight hours solid a day and I am not kidding on that point. Suggestions gratefully accepted because I’m surprised she hasn’t sucked my skin clean off.
Also, she sleeps six to seven hours at night. I know enough about newborns to know that THAT shit is weird. Plus, um, not helping with supply department and guess which fool has to get up to pump anyway.
I’m telling her friends about it in gory detail, along with having to answer the door with my hopefully temporarily third breastacular head attached on more than one occasion when she’s eighteen and stays out too late the first time. Really. Watch me.

You have my full permission to slap anyone else who suggests that you are still pregnant while in presence of the actual baby. That is just an idiot.

I am also surprised that person is still breathing. How horribly ignorant!
As far as supply/constant nursing & sleeping… she probably sleeps through the night (lucky you- except the pumping thing) because she’s eating well enough during her break-lu-pper all day meal at the b00b. I do hope you get an evening out soon- little bear was constant until we started him on a few bottles in preparation of going back to work- so maybe some of that extra pumping can go in a few bottles to start when you feel ready? She may also just be a very hungry girl- in which case I can empathize as I have a 6 month old the size of a toddler…
Amazed you ventured out with all 3 on your own- you are a superwoman!

When you venture out in the land of the MALL, you get to meet stoopid peeple.
Sorry for your day.
If she is thriving, and otherwise just dandy with eating all day long and sleeping all night long, I guess you just have to put up with it (big help I am, right?). Waking up to pump sucks, and pumping is not al that effective as a hungry little mouth when supply building is concerned. But again, if she IS gaining weight and she enjoys her sleep, I am honestly without words here. Hugely jealous, but very happy for you.
Hope you find balance soon.

Are you hell-bent on nursing this one exclusively? Because I’d be giving her a bottle of formula just to get a break at some point during the day…mostly because my boobs were tired and clearly not delivering anything.
You must be superwoman to take all three out…anywhere.

Wow, are you ever brave to venture out with all three. I guess the dumb commenter has never given birth herself, or she’d have realized that people still look pregnant for a while after having a baby. Idiot!
How’s BN gaining? Pooping and peeing ok? If not for the crap weight gain, we’d never have realized K wasn’t just a cranky little thing that had to be held constantly, but that she was starving. Pumping and supplementing the pumped milk was hellish, but worked out ok in the end. I think at this stage of the game, 8h feeding is probably not far off. They’re supposed to feed 10-12 times a day and be slow at it at this point. Definitely keep on getting up at night to pump to build supply, as much as it sucks. I got in some quality TV-watching and internet-surfing time during night pumps. If BN isn’t gaining weight well, I’d be waking her up at night to nurse once too.
I hope the supply gets better soon!

Someone did ask me one month postpartum if I was having another baby, but she was seven years old.

Ooh… awkward…
Re: nursing, tbh, that sounds about right for little less than two weeks. In my experience, also in the words of my BF’ing book. Actually, getting a 6-7hr break sounds like she’s doing quite well for her age. She’s obviously not starving herself or you’d know about it day and night. I echo others on the dirty nappy and weight gain check, but I suspect it’s all in order due to the great nighttime sleep. If so, she should start to nurse more efficiently over the next 2-4wks and from 6wks on you’ll be saying, gosh this is much easier than mixing formula and cleaning bottles. However, disclaimer, if in doubt seek guidance or at least reassurance from a lactation consultant. If wanting to build up supply for storage purposes I hear a pump before first feed in the morning works best, but I wouldn’t know much about that personally because I was always too lazy to get bottle feeding going.
